Post on Pipe Fence

We advocate post-on-pipe technique for long-lasting fences in the Pacific Northwest because of the wet climate. We've noticed that typical pressure treated posts don't survive as long as they used to, especially when they come into touch with soil. When it rains, cedar fences absorb the water and become heavy. When exposed to high winds, some posts tend to snap at the bottom, where they were in contact with the earth and thus decayed over time.

Post on Pipe

The wooden post is 2/3 inch above the ground in this innovative pipe design. The galvanized pipe (on which the post is placed) is concreted into the ground about 2 feet deep. As a result, the wooden portion of the post is not in contact with the soil. Post on pipe posts are an investment in the future and peace of mind. This solution is offered with both treated and untreated clear cedar posts. We advocate purchasing a post solution that will double the life of your fence.
